We acknowledge this initiative is taking place on the shared, asserted, and unceded traditional territories of the pune’luxutth’, quw’utsun’, WSÁNEĆ, Lamalchi, hul’q’umi’num’ and SENĆOTEN-speaking people, and on the territories of the Coast Salish people of Galiano. It also falls with the shared, asserted, and ceded traditional territories of the šxwəlməxwaʔɬ təməxw First Nation. These nations, along with other hwulmuhw mustimuhw, continue to serve as the stewards of these lands and waters, holding rights and responsibilities since time immemorial.

Building and managing affordable rental housing for low and moderate income residents of Galiano Island.
A huge step forward for Affordable Housing on Galiano Island! GALI is happy to announce that the purchase of Thuthiqut Helelum’ by the CRD has been completed. The sale is part of an allocated $2.75M towards the building of 20 homes for singles, couples, families and seniors on 10 acres at 280 Georgeson Bay Road. The CRD brings experience and resources to the project and will continue to work on funding and completion of the homes, while GALI will be the project operator once building is complete.

Introducing Thuthiqut Hulelum'.
GALI continues to work on building 20 affordable rental homes in four clustered multi-unit buildings at 280 Georgeson Bay Road, on the 10-acre property formerly known as “Galiano Green”.
With guidance of indigenous community members and elders, the project has been given the name Thuthiqut Hulelum’, which means “Forest Homes” in the Hul’q’umi’num’ language.
